Connect GitHub

  1. Go to app.snags.com/integrations and sign in.
  2. Select Connect next to GitHub and install the Snags GitHub App on the repositories it should reach.
  3. Choose the repository for new issues.

Snags uses a GitHub App, so it can only reach the repositories you pick when you install it. Repositories with issues turned off, and archived ones, aren't offered.

See Trackers and sync for what goes into an issue and who can create one.

Issues

From an audit page, Create issue on a comment opens an issue in that repository. It carries the comment, the page and element, the component, the screenshot, the steps and the console errors, and links back to the comment.

Status sync

Every 15 minutes Snags reads the issue's state:

  • Closed as completed: the comment is marked fixed.
  • Closed as not planned: the comment is marked won't fix.
  • Reopened: a comment the sync had closed reopens.

Separately from issues, you can give a GitHub repository when you publish an audit. Each comment's component then links to its file, at the commit the site was running. See Source context. GitLab and Bitbucket work there too.
